Why Self-host?
After self-hosting my own services for a long time, I get asked every now and then why I self-host if I can just use Google. I will give my thoughts on why I think it’s a good thing to self-host and why it will be more and more relevant in the future. The cost of hardware plus electricity for a system plus backups can stack pretty steep, but if you use refurbished or old hardware it’s manageable.
